US President-elect Donald Trump has announced that Tom Homan, a former immigration official, will take on the role of overseeing the country’s borders in his administration.
Trump shared the news on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying, “I am pleased to announce that the Former ICE Director, and stalwart on Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration, in charge of our Nation’s Borders (“The Border Czar”).”
“I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders,” he added.
Homan will be responsible for handling the deportation of illegal immigrants, sending them back to their home countries.
Trump, who has long been critical of undocumented immigration, has promised to carry out the largest deportation operation in US history starting on his first day in office.
During his campaign, he often used harsh language to describe irregular immigrants.
