Former US President Donald Trump kissed his wife, Melania Trump, after she surprised him at the Republican National Convention on July 18.
Trump was happy to see Melania, who had not been part of his campaign this year.
Melania and Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, have stayed away from the campaign, unlike in 2016 and 2020 when they were more involved.
Before Melania came, Trump signed papers to accept the GOP nomination. His family, except for Melania, then entered the arena and listened to a speech by wrestler Hulk Hogan.
Melania entered later, smiling and waving as she walked alone to her seat next to vice-presidential nominee JD Vance. She wore a red skirt suit as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 played.
Trump thanked Melania in his speech, calling her his “amazing wife” and appreciating her unity message after a shooting incident.
Melania whispered in Trump’s ear, and he kissed her on the cheek. They spent about 20 minutes on stage, with Melania standing by Trump’s side, occasionally touching his arm and chatting with JD Vance and his wife, Usha.
