The USF women’s golf team is gearing up to play in the American Athletic Conference Championship in Brooksville, Florida.
This time, USF is hosting the event, as the Bulls, ranked 33rd, are entering the tournament after a successful season where they finished in the top four in eight out of nine events.
The championship will span three days and consist of 54 holes, starting on Monday, April 15.
The games will unfold at the Southern Hills Plantation Club, a 6,289-yard course with a par of 72, in Brooksville, FL.
Twelve teams will participate in the championship, including five teams ranked in the top 70 nationally.
Alongside the Bulls, teams like Charlotte, East Carolina, and Memphis will compete.
The tournament’s tee-off times commence on April 15, starting between 8:00 a.m. (ET) from the first and tenth tees.
Players will get rearranged for the second and third rounds based on their previous scores, as the tee-off times for the subsequent rounds on April 16 and 17 will also be at 8:00 a.m. (ET).
In the previous season, the Bulls clinched victory three times, their best performance since 2011-12.
Notably, they set programme records, including a low round of 271 (-17) and a low 54-hole total of 836 (-28).
Senior Melanie Green shone bright, winning individual titles and earning accolades like AAC Women’s Golfer of the Week multiple times.
Melanie Green, ranked 19th nationally, is expected to lead the Bulls in the championship.
With two wins this season and a remarkable career at USF, Green is a force to be reckoned with; she is joined by teammates like senior Alizee Vidal and junior Leonor Medeiros, who have showcased their skills throughout the season.
Under the guidance of head coach Erika Brennan, the Bulls have emerged as a rising force in collegiate golf. With Brennan at the helm, the team has secured four tournament titles and shattered program records.
Melanie Green has been a standout performer, earning accolades like All-American Honourable Mention.
