The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has alerted the public to a potential threat as reports emerge of vandals planning to target its transmission lines in Zuba, Abuja.
TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, stated that troubling reports have been received, urging increased vigilance in the area.
She stressed the importance of community involvement, stating that residents must stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
She emphasized the need to protect infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted power supply for all.
Despite challenges like persistent low gas supply, TCN remains dedicated to managing Nigeria’s power grid.
Mbah highlighted the relentless efforts of grid controllers, stating, “Our diligent grid controllers work tirelessly day and night” to maintain stability.
Beyond Boders further reports that she praised their quick response to a recent disturbance on March 28, 2024, with power restoration achieved within 21 minutes.
Mbah acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the federal government, particularly the Minister of Power, in addressing gas supply issues.
“The Minister has held meetings with Generating Companies (GenCos) and Gas Companies (GasCos) to secure a higher volume of gas supply,” she stated, emphasizing the importance of enhanced power generation.
In addition to gas supply challenges, TCN faces various sector-specific hurdles affecting grid stability.
