Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has denied recent rumours about his health, saying he is in good condition and fully capable of performing his duties.
In a media briefing yesterday, Wike dismissed reports that he had flown to London for medical treatment last week. He emphasized that these claims were false.
“God has given me good health, which is why I have the energy to do what I am doing,” Wike stated.
The former Rivers State governor also denied reports that he had been rushed abroad for emergency care.
Lere Olayinka, Wike’s media aide, also spoke on the issue. He questioned how Wike could have traveled to London on Thursday night and returned by Friday to visit several communities in the FCT, including Dape in Life Camp, Gishiri, and Pigba Sama.
Olayinka took to social media, sarcastically dismissing the rumours, saying, “They are saying that the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, was rushed to London for medical attention on Thursday night. They are even quoting time and aircraft numbers. ‘Issorite!’ Sebi Wike was flown to London on Thursday night for urgent medical treatment, and he used Witchcraft to come back on Friday to visit Dape Community in Life Camp area, Gishiri, and Pigba Sama communities in Abuja on Friday.”
Olayinka mocked critics who comment on Wike’s health without knowing the facts, adding that Wike remains active in his public duties.
Wike’s denial comes amid growing public interest in his health. However, both he and his team have rejected the rumours, reaffirming his commitment to his role as FCT Minister.
