On Friday, there was panic when a woman died while riding in a tricycle in the Isheri-Idimu area of Lagos State.
Beyond Boders learned that the woman, whose identity is not known yet, boarded the tricycle along the Isheri-Igando Road. When the tricycle reached her stop, the driver tried to tell her they had arrived.
The driver was shocked to find that she was not responding and later discovered she was not moving at all.
An eyewitness said the driver called for help, and people nearby realized the woman was not breathing.
“I was close to the Isheri bus stop when I heard the tricycle rider shouting for help. When we moved close to the spot, we saw a woman placing her head on the middle of the barricade of the tricycle unresponsive.
“The rider said he was supposed to drop her at Isheri which is the last bus stop for tricycle riders along the area and when they got there, the rider expected her to step out and pay her fare only to find out that she wasn’t responding. That was when he raised the alarm,” the eyewitness said.
Another person, Sodiq, said people tried to revive her, but nothing worked. When the police arrived, people quickly left the area to avoid getting involved.
“Some said she might have been suffering from an ailment or she could have died of a heart attack,” Sodiq added.
The tricycle was taken to the Idimu police station, and the woman’s body was taken to a nearby hospital.
Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, could not be reached for comment.
