The Kano State Hisbah Board recently made headlines after apprehending Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a popular TikToker, along with her partner, over contentious social media content.
Confirming the arrest, Lawal Ibrahim, the board’s spokesperson, informed newsmen on Tuesday.
Ibrahim stated that numerous complaints from the neighbourhood prompted the arrest.
“We have been hunting for Murja Kunya but luckily her boyfriend took her from somewhere and we arrested them,” he disclosed.
Reports indicate that the Hisbah board targeted six renowned TikTok comedians for allegedly sharing indecent skit videos on TikTok and other platforms, violating the board’s regulations.
This crackdown comes on the heels of an earlier invitation by the Commander-General, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa, who urged female TikTokers in Kano to attend a session aimed at providing rehabilitation, business opportunities, and scholarships.
During the gathering, Sheikh Daurawa cautioned all social media entertainers against uploading content that might promote immorality within society.
