The Labour Party has won the UK general election, securing a strong majority in the House of Commons.
Labour leader Keir Starmer spoke to supporters early on Friday, saying, “A mandate like this comes with a great responsibility.” This was after the party crossed the needed 326 seats for a majority.
The BBC reports that Labour is expected to win 410 seats, while the Conservatives are set to get 144 seats.
Rishi Sunak, the leader of the Conservative Party, admitted defeat and called Starmer to congratulate him.
Keir Starmer, now the Prime Minister-elect, promised to start a time of “national renewal” in the UK.
