Speaking passionately about the issue, Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasized the importance of addressing such cases promptly.

She urged Nigerians to take action, stating, “It could be your child or relative tomorrow so let’s not fold our hands.”

Furthermore, the minister announced plans to crack down on the employment of underage domestic workers. She encouraged whistleblowers to come forward with information on such cases, assuring immediate action.

“In a couple of days, this ministry would make a pronouncement on taking househelp that are less than 18 years, we are going to put a stop to it and need whistleblowers to give us information. Nigeria already has a law against taking underage maids, so we intend to implement it,” Kennedy-Ohanenye reiterated.”
