Inter Miami managed a 2-1 win over the Columbus Crew on Wednesday night despite missing key players Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Ian Fray and Leo Campana scored early for Miami, helping the team secure a victory. Fray, playing his first game since July 2023 after recovering from knee surgery, scored in the 10th minute. He headed in a corner kick from Julian Gressel.
Campana added another goal in the 21st minute, scoring on a rebound after his first header was saved.
The Columbus Crew, last year’s champions, had been on a winning streak away from home. Cucho Hernandez gave them hope by scoring in the 40th minute with a goal from Aidan Morris’ cross.
Miami’s win was impressive as they were also without midfielder Matias Rojas, who, along with Messi and Suarez, is on international duty at the Copa América.
During the match, Columbus midfielder and captain Darlington Nagbe reached a milestone, becoming the 10th player in MLS history to play 400 regular-season games. Only Dax McCarty and Kei Kamara have more appearances among active players.
