A court in Abuja has granted bail to Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended head of the Law Faculty at the University of Calabar, and his legal representative, Sunny Anyanwu.
The duo faced charges related to alleged sexual harassment and obstruction of justice, presented by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.
Prof. Ndifon secured bail worth N250 million, while Anyanwu’s bail was set at N50 million. Both were required to provide two guarantors with substantial property holdings in the Federal Capital Territory, valued at a minimum of N150 million.
Their bail conditions include surrendering their passports and submitting their bank statements. Additionally, they must pledge not to interfere with the legal proceedings or cause any delays.
The court’s decision marks a shift from its earlier stance, as it had previously refused bail applications, citing concerns for the protection of the prosecution’s key witness.
