In a significant move, the Federal Government is gearing up to scrutinize the overwhelming N23 trillion debt linked to Ways and Means.
This announcement came from the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, during the ongoing Public Wealth Management Conference organized by the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MoFI).
In an effort to steer clear of future debts related to Ways and Means, the government is preparing to present a bill to the National Assembly.
This bill aims to eliminate all burdensome taxes and levies from the nation’s tax system.
Additionally, the government plans to enact policies to ensure prompt revenue collection from Government Owned Enterprises (GOEs) and corporate entities.
