At a recent gathering of Camden Lions, Michael Castle was celebrated for his exceptional work aiding people with vision and hearing challenges.
The Maine Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation presented him with the esteemed Curtis D. Lovill Fellowship award.
This honour acknowledges Castle’s tireless efforts and significant impact on the lives of those with sight and hearing impairments in Maine, particularly in the Midcoast region.
Mark Potter, a former District Governor of Lions Clubs in Maine and a member of the Damariscotta Lions Club, bestowed the award during the Camden Lion meeting on April 2.
Castle, a dedicated member of the Camden Lions, spearheads the club’s initiative to gather used eyeglasses in the Midcoast area.
These glasses are then refurbished and given to those in need. Every year, hundreds of eyeglasses are donated, supporting a tradition that Lions Clubs worldwide have upheld for over 80 years—providing vision aid to underserved communities.
