Why We Arrested Actress Laide Bakare – PPRO

by Beyondboders

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Lagos State, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, shared that actress Laide Bakare was arrested for breaking traffic laws.

According to a post by Hundeyin on his verified social media account on Sunday, Bakare was stopped and fined for her actions.

On the same day, she took to Instagram to criticize the police, saying the police entered her car and drove away with her 14-year-old daughter to an unknown place. This happened on Saturday along Ikorodu Expressway when the police accused her of driving on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Lane.

Bakare shared her frustration, saying, “For the first time, I experienced the brutal way Nigerians are being treated along that axis.

“I can’t imagine how someone with a brain and sanity will enter someone’s car and drive it away with a minor in it.

“My daughter was left terrified over the incident, a lot of things are happening in this country that needs to be attended to.

“The police only target big cars and vulnerable people to exploit and rob. Just because they needed our ATM card to take out N70,000.”

In response, Hundeyin said the actress was fined for driving on the BRT lane. He added, “You were stopped for contravening traffic laws by driving on the BRT lane.

“You chose to create a scene. You chose to remain out of your vehicle when it was being taken to Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) office.

“The officers were not going to succumb to your gimmick to hold them down at that spot.

“You rightly paid the correct fine for your offence – N70,000 – into government coffers.

“You left with the receipt and your vehicle. Not a finger was laid on you.”

AdamsOmoboriowo: “Thank you for the clarification, see how she painted the story as if police extorted her. Nigerians need to do better”

Balatic: “Instead of using tax payers money to expand transportation infrastructure, you loot the money and punish motorists who out of frustration try to manoeuvre their way around your poor infrastructure. Exactly why APC won’t be winning any free & fair election in Lagos any time soon”

DiceOfTruth: “OK OK… Fantastic. Enforce BRT lane abuse. My question is, why have you ignored the video of the smuggler? Or that crime is too serious for the Nigerian police.”

swaagsphotos: “Please and Please, anybody, even @BenHundeyin

if you DONT know this particular Spot being talked about, DO NOT COMMENT about it. You all go there and see whats happening first, then you can comment. 70k for this offense is a shame. Stop this wickedness now. @jidesanwoolu , pls”
